Instead of requiring you to upload your entire medical history into Mutant, your important genetic findings can be exported as a structured Mutant Health Context.
You can then combine that file with medical information you choose to provide to ChatGPT or another compatible AI tool.
This keeps Mutant focused on the difficult genomic interpretation while allowing your broader health investigation to happen in the AI environment you choose.
What is the Mutant Health Context?
The Mutant Health Context is a structured, AI-friendly export of the most useful parts of your analysis.
Depending on your results, it can include information such as:
- ranked possible root causes
- important biological patterns
- module-level findings
- relevant genetic variants
- symptom context
- relationships between biological systems
- evidence information
- DNA coverage
- important limitations
- laboratory or clinical areas that may be useful to correlate
The purpose is to give an AI assistant organized genomic context, rather than asking it to interpret a raw DNA file from scratch.
What does “AI-ready” mean?
AI-ready means the information is structured so an AI tool can more easily understand the relationships between your findings.
The export is designed for machine readability as well as human transparency.
You do not need to understand the underlying file format to use it.
The important difference is that the file contains interpreted and organized biological context, not simply hundreds of thousands of raw genetic variants.
Do I need ChatGPT to use Mutant?
No.
Your Mutant analysis can be explored on its own.
The AI-ready export is an additional way to take the analysis further by combining your genetic findings with other information.
You can use ChatGPT or another compatible AI platform if you want to explore your results alongside broader medical context.
Why not just upload my raw 23andMe or AncestryDNA file directly to ChatGPT?
Because a raw DNA file contains data, not a biological model.

Meaningful interpretation requires determining things such as:

Does AI determine my Mutant scores or genetic findings?
Mutant performs its own structured genomic analysis to create your findings and rankings.
The optional AI workflow comes after the genomic analysis and allows you to explore those findings alongside broader health information.
The AI assistant should not be treated as a replacement for Mutant’s underlying genomic model or for professional medical evaluation.
DNA Files and Coverage
What DNA files can Mutant analyze?
Mutant supports genetic data from sources including:
- 23andMe
- AncestryDNA
- supported whole-genome sequencing data
Available coverage depends on the file source and version.
Do I need to purchase a new DNA test?
No.
If you already have supported raw DNA data from a service such as 23andMe or AncestryDNA, you can begin with that file.
Whole-genome sequencing can provide broader coverage if you want deeper analysis later.
What is the difference between 23andMe or AncestryDNA and whole-genome sequencing?
23andMe and AncestryDNA primarily use microarray testing.
Microarrays examine a selected set of genetic positions rather than reading nearly the entire genome.
They can provide useful coverage for many common variants, but some genes and variants needed for particular analyses may be missing.
Whole-genome sequencing provides much broader coverage and can include many variants that consumer microarrays do not measure.
That can improve the resolution of some Mutant analyses.
Does missing DNA data mean I don’t have a genetic risk?
No.
This distinction is important.
If your DNA source does not test a variant, Mutant cannot assume that you carry the normal version.
That is why Mutant tracks coverage.
A low signal because relevant variants were tested and not found is different from a low signal caused by missing genetic information.
Mutant is designed to make those limitations visible.
Are rare variants included?
Coverage depends on your DNA source.
Consumer microarrays primarily contain selected variants and therefore provide limited coverage of rare variants.
Whole-genome sequencing provides much broader variant coverage.
Even with WGS, not every genetic finding has enough scientific evidence to support meaningful interpretation, so broader data does not automatically mean every detected variant becomes an actionable finding.
Can I start with 23andMe or AncestryDNA and use WGS later?
Yes.
Consumer DNA can provide a useful first-pass analysis.
Whole-genome sequencing can later provide broader coverage and allow Mutant to evaluate genetic areas that were incomplete or unavailable in the original microarray data.
Evidence and Interpretation
How does Mutant decide which genetic findings matter?
Mutant is designed to avoid treating every genetic association equally.
